What is Tooth Extraction?

Tooth Extraction or pulling a tooth as it is most often referred to, is a process of removing the tooth from your mouth. Along with dental fillings and teeth cleaning it is the most common procedure performed by the dentists.

Why Would You Need Tooth Extraction?

The primary reason for tooth extraction is that the tooth is damaged or decayed and can’t be restored in any other way.

Other reasons for Tooth Extraction include –

  • Trouble with Wisdom Teeth
  • Non-restorable Teeth
  • Orthodontics Purposes

What is the Procedure for Extraction?

Local Anesthetic is the first thing you receive during tooth extraction. This is to numb the tooth during the extraction. Once the tooth is numb dentist will extract the tooth. Once extracted a gauge pad is placed in the socket of the tooth and you will be asked to bite down on it to help stop bleeding.
